For those of you who are demonstrative in your worship, don't look down on those
who are not! You don't know what they are are struggling with. And for those of
you who are not so demonstrative in your worship, don't look down on those who
are! You don't know what they have been set free from. - Dennis Jernigan
As we launched into November, our focus has shifted to thanksgiving, praise, and worship as we center our thoughts around Psalm 100. This quote from Dennis Jernigan was a center point in my message as I spoke on "Getting My 'Specs' Right" when it comes to worship. We launched this series with the first two verses of Psalm 100:1-2, "1 Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy." These two verses invite worshippers to get involved and participate in worship, and we used the examples of King David and his wife Michal in 2 Samuel 6 to show us how people respond to worship. This message was a great start to this small 3 week series, so take a chance to listen to the audio online if you missed it. Beyond the word, it was a great day for two other reasons: 1) One of our teens invited Jesus Christ into her life today and prayed with me at the end of the first service - that was awesome. It is always a great day when someone takes a step of faith and becomes a Christian. 2) In the second service, I baptized another one of our teens, Carlos Torres , along with Sharon Fajardo, a wonderful woman in our church body. It was so great to baptize these two as they followed the Lord, and I am excited to see the Lord working in their lives. I will post pictures of this event as well. The attendance today was around 160, although I do not yet have the exact count. It was a great day on many levels. Later on, the Journeymen got together and watched the Patriots defeat the Colts in the afternoon, and we had a great time of fellowship. God is SO GOOD to this church -thank you, Lord!
