Today we began a new train of thought, leaping out of our authority series into a series from Bill Hybels based on his book, Just Walk Across the Room. When I was developing the preaching calendar for the fall, I wanted there to be an emphasis on sharing our faith with others, and I came across this series from the 2006 Evangelism Book of the Year, and it seemed a natural fit. Coming out of the authority series, we began by receiving what Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 28:18-20 right before He ascended into heaven. He told His disciples that He had been given all authority, and that He would always be with us, so we could GO and make disciples because we have His authority to do so. Based on the authority we have because He is with us, we can walk across the room, break through barriers, and tell people about God. This will be an exciting series. In our worship today we intro'd the song Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone), which after the Night of Worship we had a week ago, just raised the roof. God is being lifted up here at The Journey, and as we learn how to share our faith with others, may He draw men and women, teens, and kids to Himself! Today we had 152 in attendance.
