| SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 23,2007 - "SUBMITTING TO THE WORD" |
|
The first day of fall was beautiful here in New Hampshire, and it was a good day here at The Journey. We are close to finishing up our Authority Issues series, a look at how God always works through authority. It was a good day, as we continued to see the Lord bring new people into our place, as well as bring returning visitors that I hope will become part of this church body. Today I spoke on "Submitting to the Word," driving home the fact that the Bible is to be our authority in life. When the Bible speaks, God speaks. This set of messages has been harder-hitting than other messages that I have preached, but I think it is necessary for it to be that way. Sometimes we need to look good and hard at where we are in our spiritual walk and determine, "Am I really living like God asks me to live? Am I really submitting to Him in my life?" That is the entire purpose of this series, to help the Journey as a whole congregation to get under the things that God has placed over us so that we can get over/be over/triumph over the things He wants to put under us. Way too many of us are asking God to bless us and give us victory and triumph over things without ever putting ourselves in submission to the things God asks us to submit to. And the Word of God, the Bible, is number one on the list of things we need to submit to. It is our love letter, our light, our lunch, and our life. We began the service with Zac leading in "Word of God Speak," and then had a good time of worship, saying YES to the Lord and understanding that God's kindness draws us back to Himself. After watching a 6 minute video on a man whose life falls to pieces because of authority issues, we got into the Word. (note: I apologize for the poor video quality. We consistently work to make those things better, but this one got away from us.) A good day at the Journey as Christians decided to submit themselves to the Word of God more in their lives. We had 146 in attendance.
